Boomtown

A new stage for 2019, "Relic". Carrying on the Boomtown story, the Relic stage is the ruins of the former Bang Hai stage. Where nature has taken over with trees and vines growing up the old structure of a fallen corporate empire. With Jungle and Drum and Bass making up the music genre for this stage and Chase and Status and My Nu Leng headlining. We needed to create a big bold look whilst showing off the set design. Utilising 420 lighting fixtures in total spread over a 70m wide, 30m tall layher structure. LED Pars and and Solaris Flares were used to light the external facade. While additional flares were hung inside the structure to light up the the layher and a foliage backdrop to give depth. PRG's Best Boy Washes were positioned inside the structure to silhouette the broken up facade sending beams of light out from inside the Relic. I wanted to be sympathetic to the set design when coming up with a big bold lighting look. Towers of Icon Beams were the backbone of the design. Bolted to upright sections of the set, so they merged in during daylight and the lights really punched through once the sun set. Finished off with PRG's Bad Boy Spots on the top of the relic, ensuring it could be seen for miles and an array of Moles and Atomic Strobes scattered all over the Relic to give another dimension. Installing this was not easy, it's not a conventional stage. Meaning a lot of climbing and picker work was required. Bradley Stokes from PRG Crew Chiefed the lighting team who put this in over 4 days. With Rob Watson account handling.
